The Starlight Foundation – The Baby Blossom’s Charity Partner

supporter-logo_jpg

The Baby Blossom proudly has partnered with its chosen supporting charity, Starlight Children’s Foundation and is one which is very close to the heart of our founder, Rachael. Rachael has witnessed first-hand the wonderful acts of kindness and amazing support, which Starlight provides to sick children and their families (Good job Captain Starlight and the dedicated team!). Based at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane, Starlight moved to the new location when the Lady Cilento Children’s hospital opened in 2014 on November 29th. Whilst pregnant and visiting her OB office across the road from The Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, Rachael would often see the Starlight team, refuelling on their lunch break at their fave local café and admired the tireless work which they do to keep the smiles on the sick childrens’ faces throughout the year.
In 2015, Rachael’s first son Ollie was born at Mater Mother’s Hospital, followed by his little brother, Oscar in 2018, who spent a short time in the special care nursery as he had trouble breathing once he was born via emergency c-section, just under three-weeks early. For close to a decade, Rachael used to work as a Marketing & Relationship Manager for the Railway industry and would often help out on the Starlight Day fundraising activities. Having seen the wonderful work that the Starlight Children’s Foundation does, and having a dear friend work at Lady Cilento, as a nurse and our family paediatrician also work there, it was the perfect fit for The Baby Blossom’s supporter charity partner.

About Starlight Children’s Foundation:-

Starlight Children’s Foundation’s mission is,
“To brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families.”Because sick kids are still kids at heart.
Just because you’re sick doesn’t mean you stop being a kid. And it shouldn’t mean missing out on all the fun of childhood. So Starlight helps sick kids simply be kids. Starlight says goodbye pain and stress and hello fun and laughter.

Starlight know there’s more to treating an illness than just medicine, that’s why they work hand in hand with health professionals. Play, art, games and creativity are all important to a child’s wellbeing and that helps overall health too. Fun, happy experiences are good for the mind and good for the body. (And fun is what Starlight does best!)
Not only is Starlight home-grown, they are also the broadest reaching children’s charity in Australia. Last year alone they created over 522,208 Starlight experiences for sick kids and their families. Starlight supports kids of all ages, regardless of their illness or injury.
From Captain Starlight and the Starlight Express Rooms to Livewire and their Healthier Futures Initiative, Starlight helps brighten the lives of sick kids everywhere across Australia.
Starlight believes FUN fights fear and wins every time!
