Which Style of Baby Shower Theme Suits You and Bub?

Every mum-to-be is different and for some mums, it’s their second or third shower, maybe even more, depending on big a family! But one thing to be mindful of with your special day is creating a baby shower which will represent you and your bub-to-be. Of course you haven’t met bub yet and it’s hard to know too much about them, especially if you don’t even know the gender yet, but your shower should reflect your personality and ensure that above all, you will enjoy every moment!

It’s about celebrating with your loved ones, this very special occasion which is a once in a lifestyle experience for you on your pregnancy journey and your little miracle of life who is growing inside of you. Will you choose a low-key at home affair, or an extravagant catered and professionally event styled soiree? Whichever way you choose to go, we hope these helpful hints help you along the planning way!

invite

Step One! Depending on if you are handing over the planning reins to your bestie, sister, sister-in-law or mum or mother-in-law, make sure you let them know what sort of style you would like, an intimate get-together with your girlfriends and family or if you want to include work colleagues and your family friends too!
Let them know who you would like to have on the invite list and put together a spreadsheet, which details all of their contact information, (name, email and postal address)

Step Two! Do some research in to the sort of theming that you would like for your special shower day. Will it have a cute baby focus with little diapers and nappy decorations, nursery keep-sake touches and matching guest book and baby game stationary complemented by elegant little flower votives and hanging posies, or will you opt to have nothing baby-like, but simply go with a colour scheme and keep the rest pretty simple? It’s completely up to you. Voice your opinion mummas, it’s your day!

Step Three! Make sure you give people plenty of notice. Like weddings, babies can come in seasons too! (hehe) Bear in mind that not everyone will be able to make it but hopefully they will be able to make it up to you if they can’t make it on the day!
Save the dates are becoming quite popular and some choose to send announcement text msgs complete with cute baby scan images, others have tailored hard-copy traditionally mailed invites complete with couture branding and matching baby stamps, whereas others even make a little baby-shower website or send an e-invite. There are so many options these days. The opportunities are endless!

Step Four! Dress to Impress and Complement Your Baby Shower Style
This my ladies is the fun part! Finding the perfect outfit is a must! Make a day of it and get your close girlfriends together or take your mum and sis shopping with you. They will be honest with you with what feels good. We all know how it feels to be carrying that extra precious cargo and it’s easy to get emotional with the pregnancy hormones. You will look gorgeous no matter what! Some people opt to get something which is exclusively from a maternity range and others just go the next size up! Queen Bee (www.queenbee.com.au) is a great online website which has some absolutely stunning options for mums of all shapes and sizes. They have a variety of pieces and all of them are amazing quality!
Shops like Review (www.review.com.au) also go up to a size 16 so many mummas can fit their gorgeous bump with going for a roomer little number when choosing their perfect outfit! Be sure to sign-up for their special e-news updates and style inspiration! If you are after something girly and traditional, think Princess Kate, chic, lace and stylish pieces that will never date. You want to look back on your photos and smile with happy memories of the best shower of your life. You and bub must be comfortable though. We recommend some cute fancy flats for shoes or a safe size little heel or wedge if you do want to dress it up. Accessories will make you feel a million dollars and remember what a big difference it makes painting our nails and glamming up with gorgeous make up and hair! Our friends at Velbella have some great tips and products which you can take advantage of. Their site is here: www.velbella.com.au.

Step Five: Theming Fun! When it comes to theming, you don’t have to break the bank! Many mums get creative with their little baby shower committee helpers and make some of the cutsie decorations! From personalised place-cards to thoughtful favour gifts for your guests, it’s the little touches that make all of the difference! Try not to go too overboard, sometimes less is more! Some beautifully framed quotes with some fresh blooms and home-baked cup-cakes will have you well on your way to impressing your guests andĀ  most of you, making the day memorable for you!
We love Pink Frosting – www.pinkfrosting.com.au. They have some stunning little pieces and the prices are affordable. They also offer express post as an option upon check out so if you need your items in a rush, they are your go-to website to help! They can even help you with your invitations, through to personalised banners and favour jars.

The Baby Blossom’s Fave Tip of the Moment: Whilst your girlfriends can enjoy some bubbles, you can enjoy some colourful fruity punch or pink lemonade. Make a signature baby shower mocktail complete with all of the fancy trimmings so you don’t feel like you are missing you!
